We love seeing our Fairmont grads earning well-deserved accolades for their achievements. Even better? Hearing them share how their experiences as a student in the Kettering City Schools set them on the path to their dream careers.

Cross Safe, Kettering
Kari Basson

Cross Safe, Kettering is a community-wide campaign dedicated to keeping every person safe as they navigate our streets. Supported by the City of Kettering and Kettering City Schools, this initiative is built on a simple but powerful idea: our streets are safer when everyone, drivers and pedestrians alike, takes responsibility for looking out for one another.

We care about you, Kettering. That is at the heart of everything we do, and it is why we are committed to growing awareness, building good habits and fostering a culture of shared safety across our community. In Kettering, we are respectful, responsible and safe, and that does not stop when we step out the door.

Together, we can make Kettering a safer place for everyone, one crosswalk at a time.

Check out our Safety Video

Our Cross Safe, Kettering campaign is all about looking out for one another, and we put that into action with a short safety video we think you will want to see. Crosswalks exist for a reason, and when drivers and pedestrians work together, we all get home safely.

We are so grateful to the people who made this video possible, including our Mayor, our talented Kettering student actors, our Safety Supervisor and our School Resource Officers.

We want to extend a huge thank you to our community. We had over 3,000 students, staff, family and community members participate in the voting process to help choose the name for our combined school. This engagement is what makes Kettering such a special place to learn and grow.

  • Charles F. Kettering Middle School received 16.8% of the vote.
  • Virginia Kettering Middle School came in second place with 17.1% of the vote.
  • The winning name, receiving over 66% of the total votes, is Kettering Fairmont Middle School!

This name reflects our deep connection to the Kettering community and our shared future as our students will all become Kettering Fairmont Firebirds starting in 6th grade for the 2026-2027 school year.
